How to compare two sheets in Excel for missing rows

Find values in one sheet that are missing from another with COUNTIF, XLOOKUP or FILTER.

Per-row status in Sheet1 (B2, fill down):

=IF(COUNTIF(Sheet2!$A:$A,A2)=0,"Missing","Found")

Excel 365: list all values of Sheet1 that are not in Sheet2:

=FILTER(A2:A1000,(A2:A1000<>"")*(COUNTIF(Sheet2!A:A,A2:A1000)=0))

Sheet names with spaces: 'Customers 2025'!A:A.

Do it in two clicks inside Excel. CleanRows for Excel highlights, deletes or moves duplicates by the columns you pick, ignores case/spaces/accents and compares two sheets. Free up to 1,000 rows. Install CleanRows for Excel →
