How to compare two sheets in Google Sheets
List the rows of one sheet that are missing from another sheet, or present in both, with FILTER and COUNTIF.
Values in Sheet1 column A that are not in Sheet2 column A:
=FILTER(A2:A, A2:A<>"", COUNTIF(Sheet2!A:A, A2:A)=0)Values present in both:
=FILTER(A2:A, A2:A<>"", COUNTIF(Sheet2!A:A, A2:A)>0)Per-row status (B2, fill down):
=IF(COUNTIF(Sheet2!A:A,A2)=0,"Missing","Found")Sheet names with spaces need quotes: 'Customers 2025'!A:A. CleanRows' Compare two sheets does the same with highlighting or copying to a new sheet.
Do it in two clicks inside Google Sheets. CleanRows highlights, deletes or moves duplicates by the columns you pick, ignores case/spaces/accents and compares two sheets. Free up to 1,000 rows. Get CleanRows →
