How to merge two sheets by a key column in Google Sheets
Bring columns from one sheet into another by a matching ID or email, with VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP or one click.
Sheet1 has IDs in column A; Sheet2 has the same IDs in column A and names in column B. In Sheet1 C2:
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A2, Sheet2!A:B, 2, FALSE), "")Newer XLOOKUP (no column counting):
=XLOOKUP(A2, Sheet2!A:A, Sheet2!B:B, "")Whole column at once:
=ARRAYFORMULA(IF(A2:A="", "", IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A2:A, Sheet2!A:C, {2,3}, FALSE), "")))Formulas break when rows are sorted or the other sheet changes. CleanRows' Merge writes plain values, ignores case and extra spaces in the key, and never overwrites filled cells.
Do it in two clicks inside Google Sheets. CleanRows highlights, deletes or moves duplicates by the columns you pick, ignores case/spaces/accents and compares two sheets. Free up to 1,000 rows. Get CleanRows →
