How to remove extra spaces in Google Sheets

Trim leading, trailing and double spaces, including non-breaking spaces from copied web data.

Menu: select cells → Data → Data cleanup → Trim whitespace.

Formula:

=TRIM(A2)

Text copied from websites often contains non-breaking spaces (character 160) that TRIM keeps:

=TRIM(SUBSTITUTE(A2, CHAR(160), " "))

CleanRows → Clean → Trim & collapse extra spaces handles both and never touches formula cells.

Do it in two clicks inside Google Sheets. CleanRows highlights, deletes or moves duplicates by the columns you pick, ignores case/spaces/accents and compares two sheets. Free up to 1,000 rows. Get CleanRows →
